Collection
As a privileged partner of slaughterhouses, cutting plants and fish filleting factories, PRODIA collects category 3 animal by-products every day, in compliance with EU regulation (EC) No 1069/2009.
The materials collected vary by species: liver, lung, heart, kidney, blood, paunch, udders and spleens for cattle, pigs and sheep; filleting waste (head, bones, tail, skin) for fish; liver, heart and blood for game and rabbit; liver, heart, viscera, carcass, bones, head, neck, feet and skin for poultry.
Processing
Processing stabilizes materials collected in a raw state, in line with each client's specifications, both in preparation and packaging.
Rapid cooling using tubular heat exchangers for fresh deliveries, kept between 2 and 4°C on a just-in-time basis. For frozen products, fast and deep freezing in plate freezers followed by storage at -18°C at the Fleury-les-Aubrais, Cuiseaux and Sainte-Florence sites, mainly intended for wet pet food.
A specialty of the Saint-Amour (39) site, cooking dehydrates the material to produce protein-rich meals — PAT (Processed Animal Protein) — intended for dry pet food, as well as fats used in various applications.
Storage
PRODIA operates 6 cold-storage warehouses spread across the country, representing a storage capacity of more than 20,000 tonnes. At Saint-Amour (39), the cooking plant alone can store up to 1,000 tonnes of protein and 1,000 tonnes of fat.
